Two eye doctors in East China’s Fujian stabbed by patient, probe underway

Police in Fuzhou, East China's Fujian Province are investigating into a case in which two eye doctors were stabbed by a patient while they were on duty during the Mid-Autumn Festival on Tuesday. 

The two doctors from Fuzhou South East Eye Hospital, a hospital specializing in eye diseases, were injured around 8:30 am and were immediately rushed to the First Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University and Fujian Provincial Hospital for treatment. One of them had his carotid artery injured, according to media reports. 

A staffer from the hospital told the Global Times on Wednesday that the two doctors are in a stable condition now and the local police have begun their investigation. 

According to media reports, the doctor surnamed Wu, who was injured on the carotid artery, is experienced in the treatment of ocular hypertension and glaucoma. 

The other doctor surnamed Zhang, who is also an experienced doctor specializing in glaucoma and cataracts, received surgery on Tuesday morning.
