Chinese and French power giants, China Three Gorges Corp and TotalEnergies, announced on Tuesday the establishment of a joint venture to promote the construction of new energy charging infrastructure in Central China's Hubei Province, according to a statement.

The joint venture, with equal participation from both companies, will focus on developing electric vehicle (EV) high-power charging infrastructure and services in Hubei, with the goal of installing and operating more than 11,000 high-power charging stations by 2025, the companies said in a statement.

Both companies intend to develop co-branded, public-facing high-power charging centers and charging stations with a capacity arranging from 60 to 120 kilowatts. The centers and stations each will be available to accommodate 20 to 50 EVs on average.

After a meeting on September 8, the heads of the two companies said that it is hoped that the two sides will leverage their respective advantages, carry out comprehensive cooperation and contribute to the building of a new power system.

China Three Gorges Corp just moved its headquarters to Wuhan, capital of Hubei Province, on Sunday.
