Several regions in China, including Shenzhen in South China's Guangdong Province, Harbin in Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, and East China's Anhui Province, have introduced measures to save electricity during the upcoming National Day holidays.

In Shenzhen, large-scale light shows will be suspended during the National Day holidays, according to Xu Haiwen, responsible of the city's lights and environment management center, local media outlet First Scene reported on Tuesday.

To create a holiday atmosphere , night lights will be kept during the upcoming National Day holidays. However, the lights schedule will be changed, from 6:30 to 9:30 pm, to 7:00 to 9:30 pm, saving half an hour, Xu mentioned, adding that "based on [electricity] data of the city, the move can save about 23,000 kilowatts per hour."

The energy department of Anhui Province also announced on Monday that various measures will be adopted to ensure power supply during the National Day holidays, according to Anhui Daily.

Starting from September 21, the province initiated a plan to use electricity efficiently, requiring cities in the province to shut down landscape public lighting and proposing Party and government offices to take the lead in saving electricity.

In Harbin, Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, commercial institutions were required to suspend services after 4:00 pm, excluding fresh food supermarkets in the city and several business areas, such as Central Avenue and Qiulin, according to a video posted on Monday on China's social platform Sina Weibo by Beijing News.
