On the morning of October 16, 2021, the Fifth International Low Carbon conference with carbon emissions peak and carbon neutrality 2021 Jinshan Summit opened.

The conference focused on the theme of "Green and Low-Carbon Development: Industry, Energy, Technology", shared the development opportunities, discussed cooperation opportunities and jointly promoted green and low-carbon and sustainable development. 

Long Guoqiang, deputy head of the Development Research Center of the State Council, Jakob Linulf, the consul general of the Royal Danish Consulate in Shanghai and Ma Minglong, secretary of the Zhenjiang Municipal Party Committee, attended the event and delivered a speech, Xu Shuhai, deputy secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and mayor represented the government in signing the cooperation agreements with participating enterprises.

The event also published a list of eight low-carbon achievements such as salt save energy storage technology, green technology patent research to the world, and 25 cooperation projects including rooftop distributed photovoltaics, with 12 enterprises representatives jointly issuing the "Zhenjiang Initiative" and "Zhenjiang Index for low-carbon development".

Over the nine years of the Low-Carbon pilot project, Zhenjiang has spared no effort to popularize low-carbon concepts, demonstrate low-carbon technology, and promote low-carbon cooperation. The "Zhenjiang Practice"of green and low-carbon development is used to enrich the "China Plan" of climate and environmental governance, and is in response to global climate change to make a contribution to Zhenjiang. 

The Zhenjiang's exploration is still in its early stages, and looking forward to joining with public and private sector participants to actively explore a new modern road of harmonious coexistence between mankind and nature. Zhenjiang resolutely delivers on the "dual-carbon" strategic mission, Ma Minglong said.

"I hope to use the conference as a platform to attract more like-minded partners, work together to promote climate governance, and leave a clean and beautiful world to future generations." Ma said. 

Industry leaders shared and discussed the trends and practices of green and low-carbon transformation and development. Gao Shiji, the director of the Institute of Resources and Environmental Policy, Development Research Center of State Council, said that the focus of implementing the "dual-carbon" strategy is to adjust the country's economic and industrial structure, optimize the national energy mix, build a regional carbon reduction spatial pattern that matches development positioning, and flexibly complements, and improve the carbon reduction cost sharing mechanism.

Zhenjiang Municpal People's Government also signed cooperation agreements with National Energy Group Jiangsu Electric Power Company and Huadian Jiangsu Energy Company.
