You go up and down stream;

You love to eat the bream.

Lo! the fishing boat braves

Perilous wind and waves.

江上往来人,但爱鲈鱼美。

君看一叶舟,出没风波里。

About the poet 

Fan Zhongyan, a Song Dynasty (960-1279) poet who was also a thinker who focuses on politics and military strategies. Beside being a literati, Fan wrote profound philosophical works on ethics that made an impact on today's Chinese civilization.

About the translator 

Born in Nanchang in East China's Jiangxi Province. Xu's translator career was hugely influenced by his mother. His mother was an well educated woman who was fond of art and painting. Growing up around her mother, Xu acquired her refined cultural taste, ensuring he would have a strong pursuit of beauty in his works.
