About the poet Fan Zhongyan, a Song Dynasty (960-1279) poet who was also a thinker who focuses on politics and military strategies. Beside being a literati, Fan wrote profound philosophical works on ethics that made an impact on today's Chinese civilization.

About the translator Born in Nanchang in East China's Jiangxi Province. Xu's translator career was hugely influenced by his mother.
