China-Russia border city Heihe upgrades community to high-risk area, closes off 51 residential communities after recent flare-up

After 26 new COVID-19 cases were detected in one day, China-Russia border city Heihe, Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, upgraded one residential community to a high-risk area, 14 others to medium-risk areas and closed off 51 residential communities where COVID-19 cases were found.

Heilongjiang reported 27 new cases on Monday, among which 26 were from Aihui district of Heihe city, media reported. The city upgraded several residential communities in Aihui into high- and medium-risk areas.

The city also closed off 51 residential communities with confirmed COVID-19 cases, with closed-circle management mode, where life necessities are delivered and psychological consultations are provided. 

According to Heihe Center of Disease Prevention and Control, most positive results from nucleic acid testing were detected at centralized quarantine sites.
