The 76th United Nations General Assembly has passed a draft resolution on Wednesday submitted by China on "Promoting Peaceful Use of International Cooperation in the Field of International Security," making it the first time China has proposed and promoted the adoption of a resolution on international arms control and disarmament issues in the UN in the past 30 years.

The passage of Chinese resolution at the UNGA indicates China's rising influence on international strategic security fields and presents China's positive constructive role in international arms control and disarmament.

The draft resolution indicates all countries have the right to exchange materials, science and technology for peaceful purposes, and countries should adopt concrete measures to prompt international cooperation at the premise of fulfilling their obligations that prevent the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their means of delivery.

Geng Shuang, head of the Chinese delegation to the UN General Assembly and deputy-permanent representative to the United Nations, said that in the face of the technological wave, the peace and rights enjoyed by all countries should be respected and protected.

26 countries including Cuba, Russia, Syria and Pakistan participated in the joint proposal of China's resolution, which presents the appeals and concerns of developing countries on peaceful use of new technologies.
