Editor's Note:

The Fourth China International Import Expo (CIIE) will be held in Shanghai from November 5 to 10 as scheduled. Despite the difficulties brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, global traders plan to gather at the annual event online and offline to showcase their products and services in fields such as healthcare, artificial intelligence (AI) and carbon neutrality, looking to boost their performance in the Chinese market.

The Global Times (GT) interviewed 15 foreign diplomats in Beijing and Shanghai about their engagement and expectations for this year's CIIE. Here is:

Consul General of Indonesia in Shanghai

GT: How does Indonesia plan to engage in the CIIE despite facing challenges from COVID-19?

Deny Wachyudi Kurnia: Various Indonesian products popular in China are taking advantage of the CIIE and participating in this year's CIIE. They realize that since this is one of the largest trade events in China, they want to become associated with the CIIE.

GT: What are your expectations for the upcoming CIIE?

Deny Wachyudi Kurnia: So far, the CIIE has become an important window and benchmark for various global innovative products. I am also aware that at each CIIE, there is a sustained effort on the part of the organizing committee to prepare, and make the CIIE a successful global event that keeps up with current global business and trade trends.

As an illustration, this year's CIIE will also include emerging global sectors, such as low carbon energy, environmental protection technology, innovation incubation, artificial intelligence (AI), autonomous driving, and health technology. I am eager to see the car-powered hydrogen offerings that is one of the highlights of this year's CIIE.

It is not surprising that this year far more exhibitors, including more small medium enterprises and more than 80 percent of the Fortune 500 and industry leading companies from last year, will participate. That will indicate and be a hallmark of an attractive and successful CIIE.
