Shenzhen's Qianhai in South China's Guangdong Province will set up passenger terminal and cross-boundary helicopter waypoint with passenger ports following three-year of planning and coordination, the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported on Tuesday.

Once operational, Qianhai can open sea and air passenger routes to cities across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), and form fast and direct transportation links with Hong Kong and Macao, which will further deepen the opening-up of Qianhai and enhance its core position in the region, analyst said.

According to an official development plan addressing the GBA, China supports the establishment of ports in Qianhai to strengthen transport links with Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and Qianhai should accelerate the development of aviation and cross-boundary helicopter services.

The General Administration of Customs recently issued a 5-year development plan for ports, including new passenger ports in Qianhai, according to the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily.

Experts said that the establishment of the Qianhai passenger ports will offer additional support in enhancing the speed of Hong Kong and Macao's opening-up and promote the development and construction of the GBA, as well as building the Qianhai economic zone into a central regional hub.
