In a Twitter Monday, Huawei poked fun at the US ban with a fake Black Friday sales.
Taking the advantage of countless sales at the Black Friday, Huawei tweeted using its account HuaweiUSA that it is offering “100% OFF all phones currently selling in the US.”
The tweet garnered a huge response on the social media with around 1,000 retweets and 5,000 likes.
In a follow-up tweet, Huawei confirmed the promotion was only a joke, saying that “OK, everyone. It's just a joke. We can't sell anything in the USA.”
Huawei was banned from the US since May 2019, under which it is not allowed to sell any cell phone products in the US and crucial supply of chips for the company was banned.
The damage to the company of the US' two-year clampdown is clear.
Huawei executive board member Richard Yu Chengdong said in July that that due to the US crackdown, the 5G chip from Huawei’s P50 series will only function as a 4G chip.
Although under the blacklisting, the company's self-developed operating system HarmonyOS has already achieved success.

In October, Yu announced that HarmonyOS would become a key technology for Huawei to deal with the US chip and software ban, and its ecosystem is also seeing dynamic, rapid growth three years after its launch in 2019.
