A Chinese mainland spokesperson on Wednesday reiterated the mainland's firm opposition against Taiwan joining or signing any official free trade arrangements, including the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
Zhu Fenglian, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, made the remarks at a press conference when commenting on Taiwan's application to join the CPTPP which the island's DPP authorities has claimed is an important objective for the island.
Zhu emphasized that the island must abide by the one-China principle as the premise for its participation in any regional economic cooperation pact.
