China and Nicaragua signed a joint communiqué on Friday, announcing the resumption of their diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level. According to information obtained by the Global Times, no economic conditions were attached to the resumption of ties. Similarly, when China established diplomatic relations with Central American countries in recent years, there were no economic conditions. Nicaragua breaking ties with Taiwan island is another failure of Taiwan authorities' "cash diplomacy."

The Chinese mainland has become one of the leading powers in the world in terms of comprehensive strength, with its influence expanding in an all-round way. The establishment of diplomatic ties with China is an inevitable choice for all countries to stand firmly in the international community, preserve national self-esteem, and maintain normal foreign economic exchanges. This is totally unstoppable by the Taiwan authorities' splashing of money. Nor can it be suppressed by the US' coercion over the long term.

When Taiwan authorities, in response, swiftly announced comprehensively cutting bilateral cooperation projects and aid programs with Nicaragua, their ugly intention of maintaining "diplomatic ties" with certain countries via money has been clearly exposed.

Many US lawmakers went crazy when they heard the news. Republican Senator Rick Scott clamored on Twitter, "Communist China's growing influence is a cancer in Latin America… The U.S. must oppose this intervention by standing with Taiwan & keeping up the fight for democracy across LATAM."

Politically narcissistic American politicians are practically blind. They can't see that China's rise and the realization of national reunification are irreversible trends. Let them be shocked and frustrated over and over again, time will teach them a lesson and make them know themselves better.

Lithuania, a small European country, which took mincing steps in opening up the so-called Taiwan representative office on its own soil while claiming it sticks to the one-China principle, should take a look - Nicaragua flatly ending ties with Taiwan island is justice served. Lithuania will pay its price for going against the trend of the times. Whoever does the same as Lithuania will suffer the consequences eventually.
