Dongguan, a manufacturing hub in South China's Guangdong Province, heightened traffic control and rolled out nucleic acid tests in two administered counties after two patients tested positive for the virus.

From Tuesday, all roads, including a highway linking to the Dalang County in Dongguan will be strictly controlled, allowing no vehicles to go out except those for emergency reasons. A certificate of a negative nucleic acid test is mandatory, local government said on Tuesday.

Starting from Tuesday morning, all residents in the Dalang County and neighboring Liaobu Country will receive mandatory nucleic acid tests.

The two patients tested positive on Monday afternoon and were confirmed to be asymptomatic patients of COVID-19 on Tuesday. The official release said the two returned to Dongguan from another province via Shenzhen's Baoan International Airport on December 4.

Dongguan's Dalang County is only about 50 kilometers away from Shenzhen's Baoan International Airport.

From Tuesday morning, Shenzhen's Baoan International Airport required those who had been to Dongguan in the past 14 days to provide a negative nucleic acid test result before they can board an airplane.

Affected by the epidemic, a bus station in Dalang suspended operations for one day on Tuesday. A hospital in the country also temporarily stopped receiving new patients.
