Dongxing in South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region that borders Vietnam adopted quasi-lockdown measures on Wednesday after one COVID-19 case.

Starting from Wednesday morning, all residents are required to stay indoors for home quarantine, meanwhile, a mass test will be given to residents.

Dongxing is home to about 210,000 residents. Dongxing is in the southern part of Guangxi, at the most southwestern end of the coastline of the Chinese mainland. The southwest part of the city is connected by land and sea with Vietnam.

After the one confirmed case, the city suspended all public traffic, scenic spots and schools - equivalent to a quasi-lockdown measure.

The port also suspended clearance for both goods and personnel starting from early Tuesday morning. Those who had made entry appointment through Dongxing port will have to wait until the port customs clearance resumes, according to a notice released by the local government.

Long queues were seen of heavy trucks for imports and exports at the Dongxing port, the notice reads, warning port suspension may prolong clearance of goods.

The port entry appointment system was also suspended for appointment, media reports said.

Officials from Dongxing on Tuesday said one confirmed case was found from a regular nucleic acid test. The identity and source of infection of the case remains unknown.
