"In today's fragile world with so much uncertainty, the Olympic Games are more than ever a powerful symbol of hope, peace and solidarity for all of humanity in all our diversity," Thomas Bach, president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) wrote in the foreword of the Olympic Cultural Scroll released in Beijing.

"The Olympic Winter Games of Beijing 2022 will be a moment to bring the world together in a spirit of peace, solidarity and friendship," Bach wrote in a letter later sent to the Civilization Magazine, the co-publisher of "The Olympic Manifesto, the Beautiful Olympic Cultural Scroll."

"The entire world will see this passion when China welcomes the best winter sport athletes," Bach wrote.

"The Olympic Manifesto, the Beautiful Olympic Cultural Scroll" was jointly released by the Capital Civilizational Development Foundation and Civilization Magazine on November 25, the 129th anniversary of the speech given by Pierre de Coubertin at the Sorbonne University in Paris, known as the Olympic Manifesto.

Katerina Sakellaropoulou, President of Greece, the country where the Olympic Games originated, also sent a congratulation letter for the release of scroll.

"It honors the Olympic Spirit that remains alive and vivid in our challenging times," Sakellaropoulou remarked.

"The athletic, educational, ethical and spiritual dimension of the Olympic Games underpins the humanist values that the Olympic Movement seeks to promote: peace, solidarity, respect for pluralism and cultural diversity, sportsmanship and fair play," she said.

"Sports is a platform for global communication without politics involved. Athletes from all over the world will not be disturbed by off-field factors," Wang Chunlu, former short track speed skating world champion, told the Global Times at the launch of the scroll.

"I believe that the Beijing Winter Olympic Games will be the most successful," Wang said.
