A macaque was found in a kindergarten in a town in Guilin, South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, after the animal was believed to have failed to compete for the throne of the monkey kingdom and driven out of its group, reported The Paper on Monday.

The monkey was first spotted on the roof of a building in a kindergarten by a parent who was waiting for her kid.

According to a video posted by The Paper, it later jumped down to a wall, receiving and eating apples and other food from the children. After half an hour, the monkey climbed back to the roof, and then disappeared.

Animal experts confirmed that the monkey is a second-class protected animal, and it came to the town due to the abundance of food for monkeys.

Guangxi ranks the third in biodiversity in China and has built 78 nature reserves as of May 2021, including 23 national-level ones.
