Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Tajik counterpart, Emomali Rahmon, on Tuesday exchanged congratulations on the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Since China and Tajikistan established diplomatic relations 30 years ago, ties have developed by leaps and bounds and reached its highest level in history, Xi noted.

Especially in recent years, Xi said, the two countries have taken the lead in building a community of development and a community of security, setting an example of jointly building a community with a shared future for mankind.

The two sides enjoy deepening strategic mutual trust, firm mutual support on issues concerning each other's core interests, and booming cooperation in various fields, he said, adding that their high-quality Belt and Road cooperation has also achieved fruitful results.

Facing the COVID-19 pandemic, the people of the two countries have worked together and helped each other, demonstrating the bond between two brothers sharing weal and woe, he added.

For his part, Rahmon said he would like to extend his sincerest congratulations and best wishes to Xi and the friendly Chinese people at this important moment in the history of bilateral relations.

The relationship, he added, is mutually beneficial and based on good-neighborliness, friendship, mutual respect and mutual trust, and represents a new type of high-quality relations between countries.

Tuesday marks the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Tajikistan, which is one of the five Central Asian countries that welcomed the 30th anniversary of building bilateral ties with China between Sunday and Thursday.

Rustam Emomali, Chairman of the National Assembly of Tajikistan and Mayor of Dushanbe, recently told Chinese media that China is a close neighbor and reliable partner of Tajikistan and the latter had felt China's support in the past 30 years.

He noted that Tajikistan is the first country in the world that signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Jointly Building the "Belt and Road."

Over the past 30 years, the relations have experienced leapfrog development and reached a historic high. Breakthroughs and achievements with historical significance have been achieved, making the relations an example of a new type of international relations, and contributing to building a community with a shared future for mankind, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said at a routine press conference on Tuesday.

At a new historical starting point, China stands ready to work with Central Asian countries to build on past achievements and forge ahead in the future, and keep deepening political mutual trust and expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields. Together, we will further upgrade and elevate the bilateral relations to new heights, Wang noted.
