China's Foreign Ministry urged the US to adhere to the one-China principle and the provisions of the Three Joint Communiques between China and the US while stressing to the Taiwan local authorities that its money-spending "diplomacy" will not change the destruction of the secessionist forces on the island.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said at a press briefing on Thursday that the US government has repeatedly made up groundless accusations against Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and forced multinational companies to take sides, which is real coercive diplomacy.

The response came after some media outlets asked for China's response to the US cooperating with Lithuania against the fabricated claims of "economic coercion" by Beijing, and the Taiwan local authorities plans to set up a $200 million investment fund to assist Lithuania in "countering pressure" from Beijing.

The spokesperson emphasized that the rights and wrongs are clear, and what the US has done has exposed its plot to "use the Taiwan question to contain China," which will only destroy the US' own international image. Wang also said that efforts by the local Taiwan authorities "rely on foreign forces to seek independence" will only be a dead end.
