ostrich egg/ 鸵鸟蛋 / (tuóniǎodàn)

A: This artwork of yours is really attractive. It looks like a decorative ostrich egg, is that right? 

你的这件艺术品真好看,看起来像是鸵鸟蛋装饰物,对吗？

B: You're right. This came from a South Afrian artist. He used paintings on an ostrich egg to depict local culture. I feel it is really special.

A: It really is very special. But why is this egg broken? Wouldn't a complete ostrich egg be better?

B: Because these are all pieces of ostrich eggs that were destroyed by people that the artist collected from all over and put together in an attempt to advocate ostrich conservation. This artwork focuses on animal protection issue.  

因为这些碎片是艺术家收集的被人为破坏的鸵鸟蛋,然后试图用它们作为载体去提倡鸵鸟保护。这件作品关注动物保护问题。
