By 2023, Beijing will be built into a leading hub for 'Industrial Internet' with global influence, according to an action plan released by the city's economy and information regulator.

The city will lead the nation to become a hub for industrial software innovation, industrial internet security service and industrial internet empowerment platforms, with the scale of the core industry reaching 150 billion yuan ($23.6 billion), according to the Beijing industrial internet development action plan (2021-2023) which was released by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology.

According to the action plan, the city will try to nurture a competitive group of small and medium-sized industrial Internet enterprises to be armed with innovative information technology, strong growth prospects and the ability to attract social capital to invest in small and medium-sized enterprises.

Additionally, the city will establish a mechanism to promote coordinated high-quality development of a few industrial clusters in Beijing, Tianjin and neighboring Hebei Province covering industries such as iron and steel, auto manufacturing and aerospace, while enhancing the digitalization of the industrial chain for the automobile, hydrogen energy, and medical and health industries.
