A toad in Tonghua, Northeast China's Jilin Province, has recently become a social media amusement after the little animal was frozen into a "sculpture" while hopping on ice, according to a video a local resident filmed and posted on January 4.
The resident, surnamed Wan, seized the toad with a fish net when she was fishing from a hole of a frozen river. When the toad was released, it got frozen right after two jumps on the ice, said Wan.
The temperature on the day was about minus 20 degrees. "The outdoor is just like a large natural refrigerator," she said.
The video showed the frozen toad stuck in a hopping posture.
Wan added that the toad "came back to life" after it was put back in the water and immediately swam away.
"It is like the real life of the animation Ice Age," said a netizen on Sina Weibo, China's Twitter-like social media.
