table designing /餐桌设计/ (cānzhuō shèjì)

A: I heard that you are a table designer. What do you do specifically?

听说你是一个餐桌设计师,你都具体做些什么呢？

(tīnɡshuō nǐ shì yīɡè cānzhuō shèjì shī, nǐ dōu jùtǐ zuòxiē shenme ne?)

B: There are two explanations for people who do the table designing works. The first type is a person who designs tables, and the other one is the person who decorates tables. I perform the second role. 

关于这个职业有两种解释,一个是设计餐桌的人,另一个是构想餐桌上装饰品的人,我的工作属于第二个。

(ɡuānyú zhèɡè zhíyè yǒu liǎnɡzhǒnɡ jiěshì, yīɡè shì shèjì cānzhuō de rén, lìnɡ yīɡè shì ɡòuxiǎnɡ cānzhuō shànɡ zhuānɡshìpǐn de rén, wǒ de ɡōnɡzuò shǔyú dìèr ɡè.)

A:That sounds interesting. Please tell me more about it.

B: Generally speaking, I select what kind of tableware to use and how to arrange it according to the menu, and the background of the guests. 

一般来说,我会根据菜单,顾客的背景,和环境去决定使用的餐具和怎样布置。

(yībān láishuō, wǒ huì ɡēnjù càidān, ɡùkè de bèijǐnɡ, hé huánjìnɡ qù juédìnɡ shǐyònɡ de cānjù hé zěnyànɡ bùzhì.)

A: Is the arrangement related to the cultural background of the guests?

那怎样布置和客人的文化背景有关吗？

(nà zěnyànɡ bùzhì hé kèrén de wénhuà bèijǐnɡ yǒuɡuān ma?)

B: Of course. But when using cultural elements, one must be extra careful and avoid making mistakes. This is very important. 

当然。但在运用文化元素的时候要格外小心,千万别犯错。这点很重要。
