Do you know which city is the first "Dual Olympic City"? Yes, the capital of China, Beijing! By winning the host bid for the 2022 Winter Games in 2015, Beijing is set for hosting the 2022 Winter Olympic Games on February 4 and will become the first city in the world to host both the Summer and Winter Games.

But why Beijing? In fact, winning the bid to hold an Olympic Games is not easy.

The International Olympic Committee (ICO) considers convenient transportation infrastructure, strong reception capacity and complete event guarantees as necessary conditions, and requires the host city to have a strong economy. Meanwhile, the bidder must make clear plans and commitments to the ICO, that is, to reuse the venues after the competition.

The budget of holding a Winter Olympic Games is high and the competitions are highly professional.

In many countries, winter sports are relatively difficult for ordinary people to participate in as they might cause a low utilization rate of the venues or even leave them into disuse after the games.

The previous Winter Olympic Games were held mostly in developed countries. Most of these countries have deep ice and snow sports heritage, and the existing venues have already met a considerable part of the requirements of the Winter Games.

Beijing has made full use of the venue resources of the 2008 Summer Olympics, which has greatly reduced the Beijing 2022 budget.

In 2008, Beijing impressed the world with its outstanding delivery of the Summer Olympic Games, leaving unforgettable memories for the global audience and athletes. In 2022, the capital is ready for the Winter Olympic Games, waiting to surprise the world again!
