An Olympic medal is awarded to winning athletes in both Summer and Winter Olympic Games. But, when it comes to the medal ceremony, Winter Games' medal ceremony is not held immediately after an event. 

After a competition ends in the Summer Olympic Games, the medal will be presented directly at the competition venue. However, in the Winter Olympic Games, the souvenir-awarding ceremony is usually held first after a competition, and then the medal ceremony will be held later at a special medal zone. 

The difference is due to the cold weather of the Winter Olympic Games. It has been a tradition since the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympic Games in Japan.

In the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games, China won a gold medal in the short track speed skating mixed team relay competition on Saturday. This first gold medal of the Chinese delegation will be given during the medal ceremony on Sunday. Its three main competition venues of Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games all have been nicely designed with separate medal zones.
