Following the expansion of the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, a new 8,500-square-meter home, the only comprehensive animal house integrating breeding, feeding and raising giant panda cubs, has opened in Chengdu, Southwest China's Sichuan Province.

The first group of residents, three giant pandas, have moved into their new home, an employee at the breeding base told the Global Times, noting that it is a test to see how the pandas take to their new home.

The new home is named "Return Delivery Room." According to the breeding base, "return" means the first wild giant panda was rescued locally after the founding of the People's Republic of China.

The wild living environment and living habits of giant pandas were fully considered when designing the delivery room.

The new area consists of two indoor activity fields, four outdoor fields, one nursery and several indoor animal houses.

The outline of the main architecture is a beach stone covered by moss vines, lying quietly in the shade of dense woods.

To simulate a natural environment, the breeding base planted several kinds of rare plants from the habitat of wild giant pandas and used paintings, man-made waterfalls and stones for the floors of the indoor animal houses.
