Former leader of Kokang region in Myanmar Pheung Kya-shin dies at 94: report

 Pheung Kya-shin, or Peng Jiasheng, former chairman of the Kokang Special Region in Shan State of Myanmar and leader of the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA), died on Wednesday at the age of 94, according to the obituary released at the MNDAA's official WeChat account. 

Pheung is of Chinese descent. He was the founder of the MNDAA. The Kokang region, now called Kokang Self-Administered Zone, is located in the northern part of Shan State, sharing a border with Southwest China's Yunnan Province.
