Although the Winter Olympic Games have ended, the popular mascot Bing Dwen Dwen is still attracting people's attention. Recently, a man surnamed Zhang from the city of Yangzhou, East China's Jiangzu Province, wanted to buy the mascot but could not get it on the official website. He found an online seller surnamed Dou through a WeChat group and ordered 35 Bing Dwen Dwen mascots for over 10,000 yuan ($1,585). However, he received a package of HelloKitty.

Zhang tried to contact Dou, but he was unreachable. At present, the case is being investigated by the police. According to Zhang, he believed Dou because of his kind attitude. Zhang also said he was convinced after he saw the real Bing Dwen Dwen in Dou's hands during a video call.

Most netizens commented that people should be careful when buying the product online as many fraudsters are taking advantage of the surge in demand of the mascot. Some netizens also said that with the improvement of production capacity, Bing Dwen Dwen will become easier to buy. "If you really like it, you might as well wait patiently," one commented.
