Recently, a man surnamed Liu from Zhengzhou, Central China's Henan Province, joined a part-time chatting group to earn 5.8 yuan a day, only to be swindled out of 180,000 yuan ($28,516).
According to Liu, he saw an ad for a part-time job in a chatting group and learned that he could earn 2.88 yuan for completing one task as required. Having tasted the sweetness of "quick money," Liu felt passionate about doing the job. The "boss" released a new task the next day and told Liu that as long as he met the requirements and complete the task, he could earn 5.8 yuan every day. Liu completed eight tasks and spent a total amount of 180,000 yuan. But when he tried to cash it out and found he couldn't, he realized he'd been duped. Liu then called the police.
Liu's wife felt angry but amused by Liu's ignorance. "I don't know what he was thinking, it is ridiculous that he would believe such a trick. Money doesn't grow on trees!" she said. After the news was trending on social media platforms, netizens said that one should never be keen on getting petty advantages, or he/she would easily fall into the trap that had been carefully set by a swindler.
