Huawei unveiled its latest development blueprint at the ongoing MWC 2022 held in Barcelona, Spain, on Tuesday, during which rotating Chairman Guo Ping said the company will continue its globalization strategy, increase investment into leading technologies and reshape technological paradigm to remain competitive despite the prolonged US sanctions.

The remarks were made in a keynote speech Guo delivered online titled "Just Look Up, Let's Light Up the Future" during the annual largest ICT industry event runs from Monday to Thursday.

Guo said that Huawei is significantly increasing strategic investment into foundational technologies and working closely with its partners to reshape the technological paradigm in three areas: fundamental theories, architecture, and software.

"This investment will be notably focused on helping the company get closer to and perhaps exceed 'Shannon's Limit'. By exploring new theories and technologies, like next-generation MIMO and the wireless AI, Huawei is able to push its technologies ever closer to Shannon's Limit," Guo said.

At the same time, Guo noted that Huawei's research into new theories like semantic communications will provide the industry with guidance on new groundbreaking researches.

"We are proactively exploring new technologies to reshape architecture. For example, we are integrating photonic and electronic technologies to solve key problems and the technique bottlenecks facing chips," Guo said.

Guo's ambitious remarks were made as its consumer businesses, the main source of the company's revenue, has suffered major setbacks both at home and abroad because of the US government's cut-off of semiconductor chips supply since 2018.

Just ahead of the MWC, Huawei launched seven 'smart office' products on Sunday in Barcelona, ranging from laptop to its first ever E-Ink tablet MatePad Paper, in an effort to win back customers in Europe.

Senior executives of the firm have also attended several seminars during the four-day long event to discuss topics ranging from 5G businesses, green development, and digital IT. Huawei also set up a booth at the ICT tech exhibition to showcase its leading products and solutions.

Concluding his speech, Guo said, "Huawei will continue its globalization strategy, in standards, talent, supply chain and more. Huawei is committed to helping customers who choose it to achieve the greatest business success. "
