Mute Nature has a feeling heart,
Spring comes to see cold winter part.
All flowers are ready to burst,
But wait for thunder to roar first.

About the poet
Zhang Weiping was a Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) poet who was also well-known at the time as a patriot. He was also known for his honesty and upright nature.
About the translator
Xu Yuanchong (1921-2021) was born in Nanchang in East China's Jiangxi Province. He was a professor of literary translation at Peking University.
