Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wentian and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen jointly attended the opening ceremony of the Cambodia-China Friendship Tboung Khmum Hospital on Monday, according to the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia. The Chinese Ambassador said China will send the world's first state-level medical team of traditional Chinese medicine to Cambodia.

Ambassador Wang said that the modern general hospital with exquisite appearance and well-equipped facilities was built in three years, which has become another symbol of China-Cambodia friendship. We sincerely hope that Tboung Khmum Hospital will play its due role as the central hospital in the northern region of Cambodia in ensuring the lives and health of the people, Wang noted.

"As COVID-19 continues to ravage, China's assistance to Cambodia will not stop until the epidemic is over," said the ambassador, noting that China will send the world's first state-level TCM medical team to Cambodia to share its experience in fighting COVID-19. 

Wang said that China will also provide a new batch of vaccines free of charge to Cambodia as soon as possible and strongly support the Cambodian government's efforts to vaccinate children.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said that the Cambodia-China Friendship Tboung Khmum Hospital is a result of a strong Cambodia-China friendship and cooperation and a vivid practice of building a community with a shared future between both sides. As the largest provincial hospital in Cambodia, it will not only benefit the people of the province, but also provide better medical services to people throughout northern Cambodia.

The Cambodia-China Friendship Tboung Khmum Hospital was built with free assistance from the Chinese government. It is the largest modern general hospital with the highest medical level in Tboung Khmum Province. 

Hun Sen expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Chinese government and people for their selfless assistance to Cambodia. The hospital will start operating at the end of this month.

Hun Sen said it is thanks to China's help and support in Cambodia's fight against COVID-19 that the country's economic and social recovery has achieved more progress than expected. Up to now, the vaccination rate of Cambodian children aged 3-5 has reached 36%. The government will continue to expand vaccination coverage and gradually promote booster vaccination.
