Roaming the Beijing Central Axis - Art exhibition

How much do you know about the culture and history of Beijing? This exhibition will take you on an inside tour that explores the Beijing Central Axis, a historical landmark that is getting ready to become a World Cultural Heritage site. The exhibition shows different types of artworks across various mediums such as painting and calligraphy to show how people's everyday lives in Beijing closely link to the city's Central Axis legacy.

Along with the exhibition, a forum on a new book was held at the same venue. The new illustrated book by writer Gao Xiaolong and illustrator Yu Liancheng tells stories about the Beijing Central Axis using a vivid brush painting style.

The Beijing Central Axis can be seen as a precious reference which reflects the unique symmetry aesthetics of China's early city planning. It was nominated by UNESCO in 2013 to be one of the candidates on its Tentative List for World Cultural Heritage Site.
