China's 2022 government work report, the resolution of which was approved at the closing meeting of the fifth session of the 13th National People's Congress (NPC), revised 92 items compared with the version originally submitted to the top legislative body, including revisions on stabilizing the economy, promoting innovation and benefiting livelihood, Chinese officials said.
Xiang Dong, deputy director of the State Council Research Office, said at a press conference of the State Council Information Office on Friday that those revisions take into account motions and proposals submitted by NPC deputies and CPPCC members.
According to Xiang, the revisions on economic dimension involve fiscal, monetary, and employment policies as well as measures to stabilize prices and recoup cooperation costs for enterprises.
In terms of innovation, Xiang said that the government work report also includes raising the ratio of investment in basic research to social research and development (R&D) expense, which is in line with the above-8-percent target set in China's 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25), as well as other measures to facilitate the translation of technological results.
There are also 30 revisions on education, medical treatment and public health, and social security. For example, the original text on "reducing family burden of raising children" was changed to "reducing family burden of giving birth, raising children and educating," Xiang said.
The approved government work report also includes developing ice and snow sports and industries.
"Ice and snow sports have become a popular leisure, fashion sport among Chinese citizens, especially the young generation, after China's successful holding of the Beijing Winter Olympics. China has achieved its goal of 300 million people participating in ice and snow sports," Xiang said, adding that the inclusion of relevant terms in the report will better help the industry develop.
In the next step, China will also elevate the development of sports equipment industries, facilitating the integration of ice and snow industries as well as other relevant industries, which will create a new economic growth point, according to Xiang.
