Shenzhen-based securities firms suspend on-site business this week amid new wave of epidemic

In line with the epidemic prevention and control measures of Shenzhen's government in South China's Guangdong Province, securities firms in the city have informed customers via short message service that business offices will temporarily suspend on-site services from Monday to Friday, while trading and off-site business will not be affected.

A number of securities companies including CITIC Securities and Guosen Securities said that all their Shenzhen-based branches have arranged for employees to assist customers to handle most services through online channels to ensure normal operation of all services during the epidemic.

China Emissions Exchange released a notice through its Wechat account Sunday night noting that it will suspend on-site business this week, in order to protect public health and safety. During this period, the transaction system will continue to operate as normal and users can handle transaction business through online channels.

On Sunday, Shenzhen's government said that from Monday to Sunday, the city will carry out the third round of city-wide nucleic acid tests, requiring that except public service enterprises that supply essential goods and services including water, electricity, fuel, gas as well as firms that are involved in delivery and procurement of essential supplies for neighboring Hong Kong, other companies should suspend production and business activities, and instruct employees to remain at home.

Besides transport essential to the city's operation and ensure supplies to Hong Kong, Shenzhen's bus and subway will shut down, and community districts, urban villages, industrial parks will implement closed-loop management.

Shenzhen is battling a renewed outbreak of the Omicron variant. On Sunday, the city reported 75 new confirmed cases and 11 asymptomatic infections.
