Do you swipe your phone before bed every night? A recent survey jointly conducted by the Social Survey Center of the China Youth Daily and wenjuan.com found that 84.8 percent of the 1,532 respondents are accustomed to using mobile phones at bedtime. All surveyed were young Chinese born after 1985. Their habit, after getting into bed each night, is to pick up their phone and surf for one hour or more. They remain on their device even if they feel quite sleepy, unaware of the health costs. Health experts warn that an increase in bedtime smartphone use, especially more than 60 minutes, leaves participants at risk of having poor sleep quality. Using your phone before bed may provide temporary relaxation and satisfaction, but ultimately may risk your health and more.
