China to award 149 groups and 150 individuals for outstanding contributions to Beijing Winter Olympics

China decided to award 149 groups and 150 individuals for their outstanding contributions to the preparation and competition of the Beijing Winter Olympics and Winter Paralympics. The initial released list includes Olympic medalists Eileen Gu and Su Yiming. 

The list, based on full deliberation, review and consideration, has been released on Saturday to seek public opinions till April 6, according to the office of leading group for commendation of the Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympics. 

The  149 selected groups cover a wide range of regional government departments, companies, volunteer teams, universities, hospitals and national Olympic teams as well as  the media. 

A total of 24 Olympic athletes such as Eileen Gu and Su Yiming, Sui Wenjing and five coaches such as Chinese figure speed skating team coach Liu Guangbin and Chinese figure skating team head coach Zhao Hongbo are among the 150 selected individuals. 

Other individuals to be awarded include those who organized and participated in the Games, and the maintenance staff and volunteers. 

China as the host nation for the 2022 Winter Olympics dispatched a 388-member contingent, including 177 athletes. With its largest-ever presence at the Games, China recorded its best-ever Winter Olympic haul of 15 medals, Xinhua News Agency reported. 

Observers said through the Beijing Winter Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, the world once again saw a warm Beijing and a responsible China. The successful Games showed the turbulent world a beautiful picture of humanity's unity.
