Taiwan Affairs Office of China's State Council on Wednesday denounced the collusion of Taiwan secessionists Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authority and the US, urging them to stop provocation against the one-China principle. The comments came following the recent US arms sale, US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's possible Taiwan tour as well as DPP's hostile move against mainland enterprises.   

The current tense and turbulent situation across the Taiwan Straits is rooted in the fact that the DPP authority refuses to recognize the 1992 Consensus that embodies the one-China principle and continues to engage in provocations for "independence" by luring up external forces, inciting cross-Straits confrontation and disrupting cross-Straits relations, said Ma Xiaoguang, spokesperson of Taiwan Affair Office of State Council. .  

When asked about US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's possible Taiwan visit which was postponed after Pelosi tested positive to COVID-19, Ma said what Pelosi should do is to "immediately cancel the visit, not just postpone it."

We urge the DPP authority to immediately stop colluding with external forces, Ma said, responding to reports that the DPP authority is actively inviting Pelosi who has now tested negative for COVID-19.  

On April 5, the Biden administration approved its second arms sale to the Taiwan authority in two months, an estimated $95-million package including equipment and services to maintain the missile defense system the US exported to the island. On April 9, US Senator Josh Hawley introduced the Taiwan Weapons Exports Act, which would speed up the delivery of critical weapons to Taiwan, US media reported. 

As a response, Ma said the US arms sale is "no different from tying a bomb to every Taiwan compatriot."

"Taiwan secession" means the loss of peace and the advent of disaster, the DPP's secession provocation is the biggest threat to the security of the Taiwan Straits, Ma said. "DPP authority stubbornly pursues secession provocations for their own selfish gains and binds the Taiwan people to the chariot, which will only push the Taiwan people into the abyss of disaster."

Taiwan's defense authority on Tuesday issued a so-called national defense manual to hype up "wartime asylum." 

The DPP authority has taken advantage of the Ukraine crisis, Ma said. They're following the anti-China forces in the West to loudly trumpet the "military threat" of the Chinese mainland and continue exacerbating the tension between the two sides, he said, noting the DPP authority wants to take this opportunity to internationalize the Taiwan question. 

Responding to reports that the DPP summoned mainland firms in Taiwan that were accused of "illegally poaching talents," Ma said despite that the DPP authority has been smearing and intimidating mainland enterprises, it can't block the general trend of exchanges and its move will only harm the interests of Taiwan compatriots.

We call on Taiwan compatriots not to fall victim to the Taiwan secessionists, Ma said. "Only when compatriots on both sides work together to contain secessionists can peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits and common interests be effectively safeguarded.''
