The Ningde city government, Southeast China's Fujian Province, has assisted Chinese battery supplier Contemporary Amperex Technology Co Ltd (CATL) to secure supply for its clients amid strict pandemic control measures, local media reported on Tuesday.
According to Fujian's Southeast TV, officials from Bureau of Industry and Information Technology of Ningde said the local government has granted 605 special licenses to transport vehicles as of Monday and taken measures to secure effectiveness of CATL's crucial supplies transportation.
"We helped 150 CATL's 150 delivery vehicles transport cargo on Monday," said an official from the bureau. CATL also told the Global Times on Wednesday that the company will follow relevant quarantine policies issued by the local government while securing market supply and normal production.
Due to the impact of the latest Omicron outbreak, Chinese EV maker NIO announced on April 9 to suspend manufacturing vehicles due to supply chain snarls. US' EV maker Tesla, one of CATL's clients, also temporarily shut down its megafactory in Shanghai, and the carmaker has yet to clarify a reschedule for resuming the factory's operations.
