Northeast China's Jilin Province has stepped up efforts to resume work and production after all cities in the province achieved zero-COVID status at the community level, local officials said on Saturday.

As an important industry hub of the province, the resumption of activities of the car manufacturing industry and its upstream and downstream businesses has been carried out smoothly since mid-March.

More than 16,000 workers and suppliers of the First Automotive Works (FAW) Group Co., Ltd., a state-owned automobile manufacturer headquartered in Changchun, capital of Jilin Province, returned to work on Saturday.

Additionally, 160 vehicles from the Chinese car manufacturer Hongqi successfully left the production line in Jilin on Friday, as all aspects of the supply chain, logistics and quality control are back in place, officials said.

As of April 15, 42 out of 50 key large-scale enterprises in Jilin Province had resumed production with nearly 80,000 employees returning to work.

To ensure the smooth resumption of work and guarantee disinfection and daily necessities, Jilin Province has provided key enterprises with 182,000 medical masks, 246,000 kits of traditional Chinese medicine, and 14,000 bags of tea.

In a latest effort, Changchun announced the resumption of activities in 128 key construction projects by the end of April.

Work will be done to carefully guide construction personnel and ensure a return to work in an orderly manner, lead construction sites to follow the closed-loop management and strengthen the supply of water, electricity, gas and heating to key projects, Li Xuefeng, Deputy Secretary-General of the Changchun Municipal People's Government, said at a press briefing on Sunday.

According to Li the local government of Changchun has implemented one-on-one work manuals and emergency plans including nucleic acid testing, environment disinfection, psychological counseling and other daily epidemic prevention measures.

Changchun is also stepping up efforts to formulate favorable policies for main market players, including tax rebates, fee cuts rent reductions, additional financial support, boosting consumption and expanding investment to speed up economic recovery, Li said.

As of Wednesday, all cities in Jilin Province have reached zero-COVID status at the community level, according to the authorities.
