The Shanghai government on Tuesday vowed to further secure the delivery of essential goods within the city by issuing a dynamic health code for delivery riders, and including key staff and companies across key supply chains onto a "white list" allowing them to operate amid current restrictions.

Officials from the Shanghai government said during a daily press conference that the current number of on-duty delivery riders in the city has reached 20,000. The total order volume across major delivery platforms hit 2.2 million on Monday, increasing by over 1 million orders in only 10 days.

In order to secure the health and safety of delivery riders, the Shanghai government is cooperating with local postal authorities, e-commerce platforms and delivery companies to create a "white list" for delivery riders and companies.

The government also asked different districts in Shanghai to set special channels for free and priority nucleic acid testing to ensure riders are available for work.
