China’s imports from Russia accelerated in the first four months of 2022, and the growth rate was higher than that of China's imports from most countries and regions, data from China's General Administration of Customs showed on Monday.
China’s imports from Russia in dollar terms grew 37.8 percent in the first four months of 2022 from a year earlier, up from the 31 percent growth rate seen in the first quarter and reaching $30.85 billion. This compared with overall import growth of 7.1 percent from January to April.
Exports to Russia in dollar terms grew 11.3 percent to $20.24 billion from January to April, lower than the 25.9 percent growth rate reported in the first three months.
Total China-Russia trade stood at $51.09 billion from January to April, up 25.9 percent on yearly basis, but down from 28.7 percent in the first three months of 2022.
On a monthly basis, China imported $8.88 billion worth of goods from Russia in April, up from $7.84 billion in March, representing 13 percent monthly growth.
Exports to Russia in April hit $3.80 billion, largely unchanged from $3.82 billion in March.
