Data released by the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) show that cases of abduction and trafficking of women and children in 2021 decreased by 86.2 percent from 2013, and cases of stealing and robbing children filed few than 20 and all resolved in a very short time.

At Thursday's press conference, Jia Junqiang, MPS spokesperson, said that over the past years, the national public security organs have addressed public security problems and have endeavored to protect people's personal and property rights.

The data was released after a high-profile case involving a woman suspected of being trafficked in Fengxian county, East China's Jiangsu Province. A total of 17 people have been punished or put under investigation for the case, provincial authorities announced in February, while the Chinese central government vowed to enhance measures to protect women's rights.

The MPS said with the continuous efforts pouring into solving social crimes, major cases with far-reaching social impact have been promptly solved, and the incidence of serious violent crimes has decreased year by year. About 99.9 percent of homicide cases have been resolved, reaching a historical record and making China one of the courtiers with the some of the lowest crime rates in the world.

Since 2017, more than 4,600 fugitives engaged in cross-border crimes were nabbed from more than 120 countries and regions, in addition to that, more than 559,000 suspects involved in 430,000 drug-related cases were apprehended, officials said.

On cracking down telecom fraud cases, the MPS has solved more than 1.227 million cases with some 1.3 million suspects being detained.

The National Anti-Fraud Center in 2021 also successfully saved some 28.91 million people from being conned and saved citizens more than 329 billion yuan ($48.5 billion).
