After three consecutive days without infections at the community level, Beijing reported another COVID-19 case during a community screening on Monday.

A total of 18 cases of COVID-19 were reported in Beijing between 12 am and 3 pm local time on Monday, with one patient detected during a community screening in the capital's Fengtai district.

The sudden outbreak in Beijing shows that the city's task of dynamic zero COVID-19 remains tough, Beijing's municipal government spokesperson, Xu Hejian, said at Monday's news conference.

In addition, samples from imported goods tested positive in Pinggu district, which is the only district in Beijing without reported infections in the past month.

Public transportation and offices have resumed in Chaoyang district after seven consecutive days with no new cases reported from community screenings. Except for some neighborhoods that are still under lockdown, buses, subways and taxis have resumed service and employees can go to their offices, officials said on Monday.

Large shopping malls in Chaoyang district have also resumed operations but with a capacity restriction of 50 percent.

The city's Haidian district announced control measures for seven risk areas in the following week. The areas will be closed and all people should stay at home. One person from each apartment can go out each day to collect household goods and take out the garbage.

Nursing homes and orphanages in the region will be under closed management. Besides supermarkets, vegetable stores, catering businesses, medical institutions and pharmacies that guarantee basic living needs, other stores in the areas will be closed.

Since April 22, Beijing has reported a cumulative total of 1,752 infections in 15 districts in the current wave of COVID-19.
