Some US politicians like to play nondescript roles in various political farces. The most vigorous performance recently is to act as "professionals" who create conflicts, incite confrontation, and maliciously smear China's image. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi have successively issued "statements" with a very performative nature under the guise of so-called democracy, human rights and freedom. In order to interfere in China's internal affairs, they make irresponsible remarks about the human rights and the rule of law in Hong Kong, claiming that "the struggle for democracy and freedom continues to echo in Hong Kong", and they continue to smear Xinjiang governance with lies fabricated by a few people in the US and the West. In response, the Chinese side sternly refuted and demanded that they immediately stop their political tricks to deceive the world.
In the eyes of the world, the claptrap staged by some US politicians, no matter how arrogant they are, is nothing but an absurd farce. The plot they devised to disrupt the order in Hong Kong and contain China's development will never become a reality. It is obvious that some US politicians who lack a sense of reality are either myopic or squinting. They do not follow the bright path of correctly developing and properly handling China-US relations, but are always trying hard on the dark path of misreading China and misjudging the situation. Now, the rule of law in Hong Kong is improving day by day, and the disturbing forces they support can no longer do whatever they want. It means they have come to a dead end in the wrong direction and banged their head against the wall really hard. However, they do not want to give up their confrontational thinking, and are still thinking of ways to stir up trouble and make vicious remarks from time to time, which goes against the will of the peoples from both countries and adds stumbling blocks to bilateral relations.
Some US politicians always dress themselves up as "human rights preachers," and use American textbooks on "democracy," "human rights" and "freedom" to sell to the world. However, the bloodstains in those textbooks could not deceive the eyes of the world at all. Blinken and Pelosi's latest political show came a day after US President Joe Biden announced that shootings had become the leading cause of death for American children. In addition to frequent shootings, the COVID-19 pandemic has so far killed millions of Americans, and the rights of life for minorities and vulnerable groups are increasingly becoming marginalized in the political struggle in Washington, and even becoming the victims of partisan infighting. In foreign policy, US-style hegemony is equally disgusting. Under the guise of "human rights" and "pacification," the US is either always launching a war or on the way to launch a war.
Speaking of Hong Kong, Pelosi talked about "dignity" as if she has the moral high ground. However, all the Chinese people, including Hong Kong compatriots, remember that she praised Hong Kong's violent riots "a beautiful sight to behold" while severely accused the rioters who stormed Capitol Hill last year of attacking democracy. Ironically, she shamelessly said "if we do not speak out against human rights abuses in China due to commercial interests, then we will lose all moral authority to speak out for human rights anywhere else in the world." We have to ask: When the largest orphan incident of the 21st century occurred in the US - nearly 250,000 children lost their primary or secondary guardians in the COVID-19 epidemic, but the US government was unable to take effective response actions; when the US public once again was shrouded in sorrowfulness brought about by massive shooting incidents, when children in American schools were forced to wear body armor and teachers were advised by politicians to bring weapons into classes; when the "Floyds" in the US are violently treated and cannot breathe; when US soldiers wantonly bully and abuse civilians in Iraq, Afghanistan and other countries, who else in the world would respect the US' "moral authority?" US politicians who are blatantly adhering to double standards have long lost their reputation and credibility.
The common feeling throughout the world is that wherever Washington voices concern about human rights, there will be chaos. But we have to say, the Chinese people will never fall for this trick. We will never allow any external forces to interfere in China's internal affairs and undermine Hong Kong's development. The wheels of history are rolling forward, and the implementation of the national security law for Hong Kong and the new electoral system in the city have effectively maintained Hong Kong's stability and business environment, demonstrating a bright future for Hong Kong's governance and prosperity. China's new journey toward building a modern socialist country in an all-round way and its march toward the second centenary goal is even more unstoppable.
