A woman in Hangzhou, East China's Zhejiang Province, received phone calls from strangers for days, and even strange men came to her apartment at 3 am, when the police finally found out it was her ex-boyfriend who had leaked her personal information.
The woman, surnamed Li, suspected her ex-boyfriend was playing a prank on her and called the police after she received strange calls late at night. Police later caught two suspicious men in front of Li's apartment, who said they had met Li on a social networking app and that Li had given them her contact information and address. Li insisted that she had never used at app. Police later tracked down her ex-boyfriend, who confessed to the illegal act. Li's ex-boyfriend, surnamed Chen, admitted to the police that he was impersonating Li online and leaking her information in the hope that Li would turn to him for help if she was in trouble.
Chen has been administratively detained by the police at the moment, and Li's life has returned to normal.
