On Sunday, a villager in Jiahe, Northeast China's Jilin Province, was attacked by a black bear while herding cattle on a mountain, and was bitten on his head, arms and other parts of his body, Elephant News reported.
The injured man said a black bear approached him while he was herding cattle. He got up and ran. But after only a few steps, the bear chased him down. "It kept chasing me, so I lay down on the ground and didn't dare to move. It just bit me a few times and left," the man said.
Seeing that the bear was far away, he fled back to the village on his motorcycle in pain. The injured man, who suffered a fractured cheekbone, is now being examined and treated at a local hospital.
An online video shows that the bear was found in the Sanhe village, which is a forestal area. "Fortunately, bears don't seem to eat dead animals," one netizen said, "but the local government should pay attention to such accidents and villagers should avoid walking alone."
