The southern Kandahar province of Afghanistan has exported raisins worth more than 96 million U.S. dollars over the past one year, a statement of the office of Kandahar's Chamber of Commerce and Investment said Wednesday.
The raisins harvested in Kandahar over the past year were more than previous years and 29,000 tons were exported, the statement said.
It said efforts are made to increase local products and income sources in the province.
Famous for its grapes and pomegranates, Kandahar province also exports thousands of tons of other fresh and dried fruits including raisins and figs annually.
