Shanghai Disney Resort said its main Shanghai Disneytown and Shanghai Disneyland Hotel will resume operations from Thursday, after a nearly three-month closure linked to recent coronavirus outbreaks. Some retail and park areas already opened last week.
Most shopping, dining and entertainment experiences will resume operations by Thursday, but the resort will operate at a limited capacity and with shortened operating hours, according to a resort announcement published on Tuesday.
The news quickly appeared in the hot search list on China's Twitter-like Sina Weibo on Tuesday evening.
Disneyland and Toy Story Hotel will still remain closed, the announcement read, as its team "continues to prepare for the reopening of the entire resort."
Thursday also marks the sixth anniversary of the resort's opening in Shanghai.
The resort has arranged a list of COVID prevention and control measures for the reopening, according to guidelines issued by the local authorities. For example, all guests will be required to present a green Shanghai Health QR Code and a negative nucleic acid test taken within 72 hours.
The resort had already announced on June 9 the reopening of some of its resort locations, including a park near the Shanghai Disneyland and a store.
Shanghai Disney Resort announced its temporary closure on March 21 as a result of the coronavirus situation, prior to a lengthy city-wide lockdown which began in April.
As Shanghai lifts its lockdown, significant attention has been given as to when Shanghai Disneyland will reopen. Many netizens also commented on Shanghai Disney's Weibo account that they look forward to visiting the resort.
