China's Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, together with two national organizations, initiated a review of the Chinese occupation-sector encyclopedia in April 2021, which will include 18 new occupations, covering the digital economy, environmental protection and the people's livelihood.

Robotics engineer, cyber security engineer and other brand-new occupations were listed in the new encyclopedia, in order to meet the demands for the country's development strategies in an increasingly digital era.

With regard to environment protection, carbon emission volume assessor and agricultural digitalization engineer were set to accelerate the pace of carbon reductions and the country's carbon neutrality and the growth of environmental friendly agriculture.

The encyclopedia also set veteran affairs agents as a new occupation to implement country's supportive policies for veteran service men and women.
