A man from Zhengzhou tried to fry an egg on a manhole cover on Friday afternoon, when the temperature reached 40 C. Twenty minutes later, the egg started to solidify and an hour later, the raw egg become a fried egg.

The man said that he could smell the delicious egg after leaving it there to frying for an hour. After the test, the road temperature was as high as 54.5 C, and the temperature of the manhole cover was nearly 60 C. The man involved filmed the experiment as a mini-vlog and posted it on social media platforms, and netizens from different cities seemed to find it interesting.

A total of 509 heat alerts have been issued across China in recent days, according to the weather website. "Zhengzhou is not the only city where eggs can be fried. The roof of my black car can also do that," one netizen joked. "The car seats are burning in the heat."
